The beauty of this entry in the Baby Einstein catalog is its integration of puppets, toys, and live farm footage to help babies and toddlers make the connection between their plastic play sets and stuffed animals with images of a real farm. As always, the spoken language is minimal, omitting the pesky verbs and adjectives that would confuse the very young. The 30-minute main program is divided into sections: barns and equipment, animals, planting crops, and harvesting. Background music ranges from "Old MacDonald" to Schumann, and DVD extras include a 6-minute puppet show and visual "discovery cards" identifying animals and farm paraphernalia with a single word. (Ages 6 months to 3 years) --Kimberly Heinrichs

4 out of 5 stars One of the more entertaining Baby Einstein movies   January 8, 2009
CJ (NY, NY)
My daughter (8 months) loves this video - it's one of her favorite Baby Einstein movies because it has few "lull times" like some of the other videos, and lots of puppets and pictures of real animals. This and A Day on the Farm are sure hits.

5 out of 5 stars I can always count on baby einstein   January 7, 2009

At first my 15 month old wasn't that interested. She liked Baby Wordworth and My First Signs better. Then she got addicted to the Old McDonald Had A Farm song. Now she loves to watch it. After a while though and with all of them, she just likes it on as background noise and doesn't really watch it much. So I have to find her another one.

5 out of 5 stars Great for babies and young toddlers   September 3, 2008
S. Jamet (Elmhurst, New York United States)
My daughter loved this DVD at 8 months and loves it even more at 17 months! This Baby Einstein DVD is the best one she's seen - lots of animals and music. It keeps her dancing, pointing and laughing.

5 out of 5 stars We love it!   August 13, 2008
I. L. Chilton (Texas)
My 20-month old son loves this video! We've had it for a few months now and he still enjoys it every time! His favorite part is the handpuppets, but he gets excited over the tractors, the chickens, the children...basically everything in this video. And I love watching it too!

1 out of 5 stars Your child will learn less, not more.   June 28, 2008

Your child would love watching this video, but she'd also love eating cotton candy and drinking grape soda. Many pediatric and psychological studies have shown that young children know FEWER words for every hour they spend watching videos like this one. Why? Because they aren't spending time with YOU, practicing their language and social skills. There's also evidence that young children who watch TV have a greater risk of developing ADHD. Last, toddlers who grow up in homes with the TV always on in the background literally seem to have more trouble hearing themselves think. This hurts their developing linguistic abilities and consequently their abilities to engage silent reasoning.

Please protect your child -- don't let her watch any TV during her early, crucial, developmental years. We only watch TV when our little girl is asleep.
