Lost, stupid, and really, really scared, Stressy turns the camera on herself and whimpers, "I don't know where this snot is coming from because I don't have a nose." Well no, she doesn't, because she's the star of Steve Oedekerk's surreal all-thumbs parody of The Blair Witch Project. Three camera-wielding digits get lost in the forest, fight off a shark attack in their tent ("It could have been an owl," Stressy hopefully offers), and relentlessly film every moment of their blind panic. This bizarre spoof has it all over the recent rash of parodies: it's shorter (under half an hour) and sillier, and it stars Jaws, Frankenstein's monster, and a handful of talking thumbs with squished-together eyes, run-amok eyebrows, and overactive mouths spewing nonstop nonsense. And it's pretty darn funny to boot.

The spoofing continues through the special supplements, with a mock "making of" featurette (where the thumbs blab on about coffee, motivation, and irritating butt rashes), outtakes and deleted scenes, and a thoroughly nonsensical, incomprehensible Insane commentary track to accompany the Sane (but only slightly more informative) commentary track. --Sean Axmaker

5 out of 5 stars Silly but good   January 16, 2007

This movie is cheaply made but really hilarious. There are a lot of great one-liners.

Oh yes. This is such a fantastic parody. Ok, look, i haven't even ever seen the Blair Witch Project. It was still outrageously funny. You can even watch this with kids and they will find it hilarious. My whole neighborhood quotes it constantly. Do yourself a favour and plug it in. If you don't have a diverse or even ridiculous sense of humour, if you're one of those purists that is afraid to laugh, then don't bother. But Steve Oedekerk is a master.

5 out of 5 stars How can you not like this?!!!   March 1, 2006

First of all, I feel it best that you watch 'Blair Witch' before you see this, otherwise, this will make NO sense whatsoever. I was (personally) glad that characters in 'Witch' were eventually got what they 'deserved' as they were incredibly annoying & needed to be b!+C#ed-slapped all over the place! (..ahem...sorry.)

As I was saying...

All the Thumb movies have proven to be great(!), and this one is NO exception! I have been anxiously awaiting for the new Thumbshows for years now!

I think there should be shows like the PowerThumbRangers, The Incredible Green Thumb (Hulk), Gone With the Thumb, X-Thumbs, Fantastic [4] Thumbs...any many, many more.

Just don't stop.

Keep on Thumbin'!

1 out of 5 stars Anticipation not deliveredy What a lemon!   April 3, 2004

Man. What a disappointment. I have 3 of these "Thumbation" and this sucks the biggie!

The only part that mildly amusing was the baby with the red eyes and the devils mark.

I was hanging in there for the punch, but I didn't even get slapped with a wet fish... It was a painfully long, tediously drawn out attempt at.. God knows what!

He has definitely done better. The whole thumbation concept is refreshingly unique, and could be a real blast, but you cannot just hinge it on that. Very... very weak.

The only people who could really appreciate this "slow pulled thorn of a movie" are those folk who are hard-core thumb-addicts.

If you have not seen a Thumbation, don't start here, otherwise you'll be really pissed and won't want to see another... which you don't want to do because some of these movies are quite a hoot.
